Watchmaker on site

Benches that do the work themselves

These businesses state they have a watchmaker on the premises rather than couriering your watch to someone else. It is the single fact that most changes a repair quote.

Questions people actually ask

How much does watch repair cost in New York?

It depends on the job and, more than most people expect, on whether the shop does the work itself or couriers it to a bench elsewhere. We publish 38 businesses across the metro and are collecting quoted prices by phone; where we hold a confirmed figure it is shown on the business's page, and where we do not the field is left empty rather than estimated.

How do you compile the businesses listed here?

Each listing needs a published address, phone number and opening hours, plus at least two supporting facts, plus at least one source URL — and every page links the sources it came from. 38 businesses currently clear that bar; the rest stay in draft. Listings compiled from published sources are labelled as such, and only become "confirmed by phone" once somebody has actually rung them.

Do businesses pay to be listed?

No. Listings are free and cannot be bought, influenced, or removed by payment. Revenue comes from clearly labelled category sponsors who appear only in panels marked Sponsored, and a sponsor’s listing is compiled by the identical method as everyone else’s.

Which New York neighbourhoods do you cover?

2 areas currently qualify, across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the near metro. A neighbourhood page is only published once three or more verified businesses actually operate there, so the coverage grows as the directory does rather than being padded out.

What "published sources" means, and how we make money

Every listing is compiled from the business's own website or a brand's official retailer locator, and each one links the pages it came from. Where a badge says published sources, nobody has rung them yet — so prices, turnaround and warranty are absent rather than guessed. As we confirm those by phone the badge changes to confirmed by phone.

We make money from clearly labelled category sponsors, who appear in the panel marked Sponsored and nowhere else.
